READING: HALLOWEEN


Read the text bellow and answer the questions

Halloween is an old tradition that’s celebrated on the night of October 31.

It was originated in Ireland, and it’s celebrated in a lot of countries including Ireland, United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and others.

Ancient people believed that the spirits of the dead walked the earth at Halloween night. They dressed up like ghosts and then the ghosts couldn’t recognize them and didn’t hurt them.

Today we remember this tradition and we celebrate in a variety of ways and activities.
People decorate their houses with spiders, witches, ghosts and pumpkins.


Children dress up in costumes and go from house to house asking “Trick or treat” trick-or-treating and they get sweets and chocolates. It's a funny night!
